Welcome to West Park Kindergarten in South Shields

West Park Kindergarten is a privately run day nursery situated on West Park Road in South Shields and has been open since March 2000. The building has been designed especially to cater for the children and their needs and is registered by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education). At present we can care for 78 children at any one-timeaging from 6 weeks old up to 14 years old.

As we are a small nursery we are able to provide a loving home from home feeling to all, which can also help children to settle in and feel more confident in their new surroundings. We have been helping to provide childcare for local families as well as further afield, since September 2005 by providing an out of school service to continue helping working parents. All children have access to the private enclosed onsite play area and garden, which is situated away from the main road and provides each child with a safe and secure place to play whilst allowing them to have fun through lots of learning experiences.

We aim to provide children with happiness, freedom, guidance, discipline and kindness in a consistent, secure environment. We recognise the emotional needs of children include attention, affection, security, a sense of belonging and personal growth. They need encouragement to learn from experience, the opportunity to explore, investigate, experiment and be given appropriate activities that encourage children to reach their full potential.

All children learn through play – the principal means of learning in early childhood. Through play children gradually develop concepts, make judgements and use their imagination.

Aims and Objectives of the owners and staff for West Park Kindergarten

As an owner of children's day nurseries for the past 15 years the aims and objectives of my wife, myself and our managers, along with all our staff, is to provide the best care and education to all the children that attend any of our nurseries. We aim to dedicate as much of our financial resources and our time into improving the nurseries year upon year. Our staff are highly motivated and highly trained to focus on education and development but, most importantly, provide love and care. We love our community and the area we all belong to and what is instilled in all of our nurseries, from everyone that works on behalf of the children, is dedication and love to promote the best start in life a child could possibly get.

I am personally in contact, whether via phone calls or visits, every day the nurseries are open to monitor and support the staff in any way which they might require. Liz is an outstanding manager who has created a fantastic team that are absolutely dedicated to providing the best for the children. Any nursery is only as good as the staff that work there and the staff are only as good under the manager's influence. Tthe manager is the key to the nursery's success and we have the best in terms of experience, knowledge and care.

Our food is delivered by ASDA fresh on a Monday; the greengrocer also delivers a wide range of fruit and vegetables on a Monday, fresh for the children, as does the milkman. Good nutrition goes hand in hand with good development. We all love our job and are proud to be part of the ongoing high standards and dedicated care of all our children. This will all bode well for the future within our community. We welcome any support and any help that is offered that can help us improve any aspect of any nursery. We would like to thank all our parents for their continued support and kind words over the whole 15 years.
